4.7R earthquake jolts Thessaloniki
An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale jolted Thessaloniki on Wednesday morning, causing concern among local residents, although no damage was immediately reported. According to the Thessaloniki University's Geophysics Laboratory, the earthquake was recorded at 10:01 a.m. at a distance of 40 kilometres southeast of the city, with its epicentre between the towns of Zagliveri (Thessaloniki prefecture) and Polygyros (Halkidiki prefecture). The trembler was felt throughout Thessaloniki prefecture as well as in the rest of central Macedonia province.
