Ex-FM Molyviatis awarded Pushkin medal
Former Greek foreign minister Petros Molyviatis along with a noted translator of Russian literature, Mitsos Alexandropoulos, and the chairman of the Greek-Russian parliamentary friendship group, Simos Kedikoglou, were named here this week as recipients of the Pushkin medal, by order of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to a Russian presidential decree dated Dec. 24, 2007, and announced by the Kremlin on Friday, the three Greek nationals along with nine other foreign citizens were bestowed the honor for their significant contribution towards the furthering and study of the Russian language and to build ties between their respective nations and Russia.
Molyviatis, a retired career diplomat, is currently the chairman of the board of the Athens-based Konstantinos (Constantine) G. Karamanlis Foundation.
